WEEKEND BY PLANE IN SANTORINI
Once again I left behind my job, home and two children to devote a couple of days to myself and my love. Such long weekends, mean to me sleep, love, great food, reading and long bathtubs -a vice that’s not fitting my daily routine anymore. If you let me free, I would carry with me two enormous bags filled with cosmetics so that I could crash test my new beauty findings. This time though, we were flying to Santorini with light luggage on-board. This meant, that the night before, I had to do a ” beauty necessities” casting, during which I had to cut all the containers with liquid over 100ml, according to airposr security regulations. What I wind up with, I tested it to make sure that it all fit in the special plastic bag!
Within the plastic cosmetics bag I packed:
-100ml of pure almond oil for cleansing, de-makeup and moisturizing of any kind, chemicals free.
-60ml Bio-Oil because I wanted to test it and had very convenient packaging (this nourishing oil is suitable for face and body, and is a case study product around the globe).
-15ml Nuxe Nirvanesque Yeux (my eye cream, with which I also clean the remaining of my stubborn mascara after cleansing).
-15ml Rene Furterer Lissea leave-in smoothing fluid (even if I do not put condition my hair, this leave-in treatment leaves my hair frizz free).
-15ml Apivita Natural Serum Hydration (I apply this phenomenal product, before anything else on my face. It delivers maximum hydration without a hint of greasiness, making it ideal as a makeup base).
-45ml Neil’s Yard Remedies White Tea Facial Mist (I spray this allover my face to freshen up in a moment, perfect for the plane and full with antioxidants)
-3.8ml Shiseido Sheer Eye Zone Corrector (a little of this is enough to transform me into the Sleeping Beauty, as I was born with blue-black circles under the eyes).
Outside the plastic bag and absolutely necessary:
-My Ice Guard deodorant that is 100% natural and very effective. Made from natural salts. The only drawback in this is that you have to moisten to apply it.
-The compact make-up and sunscreen of AVENE, Minerale Compact Tinted SPF50 +, which the perfect 2 in1 combination.
On the plane I wandered the Aegean blue and immediately switched on my “zen mode”. On disembarking, however, I must have smelled at least three ladies with excess fragrance. One of them, I am pretty sure, wore the Narciso Rodriguez for her, that is actually a very nice perfume, but not to put on a plane! So girls, if you don’t wish to share migraines in your way, don’t wear any perfume on board.
At the Honeymoon Petra Villas I enjoyed a perfect Swedish massage. If you go there, I highly recommend it! The hotel’s amenities, I happily discovered that they were Korres, so it was a fine decision I did not pack with me the essentials: shampoo-shower gel-conditioner.
The island was magical, but the weather didn’t permit any swimming or sunbathing. This didn’t spoiled our weekend at all! The only thing that frustrated me, was the wind that forced me to have my hair permanently in a bun. This hair bun now has its own personality! A long walk in Oia, made me forget my messy bun, and left me with my beauty-souvenir: pure soap with donkey milk. It’s known to help acne, psoriasis, dry skin and wrinkles. Luckily I do not suffer from the above, Nevertheless I tried it and I was very pleased. It does not smell at all, it’s a little bit sticky and does not foam much, which indicates the natural composition enriched with virgin olive oil, coconut oil and essential oils. Handmade in Edessa, selled though in Santorini, I assume to remind the tourists of the donkey rides from Oia to Ammoudi. Like a fine tourist myself, I paid double for it! Later on, I looked it up online and found it almost for free.
Back home, it took me a week or so to get out of my zen mode, and why should I anyway? Aren’t we all struggling to get in it? I also remembered the new shower gel from Korres, with a distinctive fruity-gourmet perfume from the blossoming Assyrtiko vineyards of Santorini. I took a shower it, and as I began to smell it my “zen mode” came back to me singing and laughing like a child.
