NOW Echinacea food supplement contains 400 mg of the most active form of Echinacea, E.purpurea. This plant, supports the immune system through a variety of mechanisms that help phagocytosis and production of T-Cell. The extracts are standardized to specific levels of marker compounds, known to strengthen the immune system. Derivatives of caffeic acid (echinacosides), polysaccharides, polyacetylenes, alkylamides, and flavonoids are among the active ingredients of this plant. Herbal medicines have traditionally used Echinacea to treat inflammatory and viral diseases such as colds, cough and upper respiratory infections. Recent studies indicate that it may also be used as an antioxidant against free radicals to prevent cardiovascular diseases, arthritis and premature aging. The essence of the root of Echinacea purpurea has a greater capacity for removing free radicals from those of E. pallida and E. angustifolia, thanks to the larger amount of phenolic encountered it. E. purpurea is also known to stimulate the immune system to prevent the common cold, influenza and chronic respiratory infections, because it is rich in cichoric acid.
As a dietary supplement, take 2 capsules 1 to 4 times daily as needed. Continuous high level consumption of this product for more than 2 weeks of each month is not recommended.
